Mardi Gras Party!

Saturday, March 1
Join us for this vibrant program to
celebrate Mardi Gras!
Come join us for this vibrant program to celebrate Mardi Gras! With a repertoire that ranges from Bernstein to Stevie Wonder, and from Gershwin to gospel, vocalist Charles Thomas spices up servings of jazz standards with eclectic pop, classic folk, and contemporary world music flavors. His performances in venues from Chicago’s Jazz Showcase and New York’s Laurie Beechman Theatre to Paris’s Franc Pinot have featured collaborations with artists as diverse as jazz pianists Geri Allen and Amin Claudine Myers, internationally renowned dance company Urban Bush Women, and vocal ensembles Opera Ebony and New York Harlem Theater.
The concert will be preceded by a Mardi Gras buffet dinner with jambalaya, gumbo, red beans and rice, cornbread, non-alcoholic hurricanes, and a king cake. Following dinner, we will assemble for our very own Mardi Gras parade from the Fellowship Hall to the Sanctuary. We invite people to bring a percussion-type instrument of their choice for the parade (drums or a pot & wooden spoon, chimes, bells, tambourines, wood blocks, noisemakers, etc.), although helping hands will also be needed for carrying balloons and streamers.
As always, we encourage you to invite neighbors, friends, and family members who you would like to involve in our church community.
