Leadership Nominations Committee

PCB’s Leadership Nominations Committee (LNC) is an elected board of the congregation responsible to identify, discern and nominate members for the church’s primary leadership boards – the Session and Deacons, as well as for the LNC itself.

It’s great time to be involved at PCB! There’s a lot of energy and enthusiasm with our church’s progress.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of PCB’s Leadership Nominations Committee is to seek appropriately qualified members to
serve God in lay leadership board roles – for the good of our congregation, our community, and the world.
We work to encourage, cultivate, and recruit a variety of members with appropriate qualifications who are
committed to building PCB as a welcoming home for all people to grow their faith.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Each year, the LNC determines need, recruits and nominates for the following lay board leadership roles for approval by Congregation vote:
1. Members of the Session (one-third of membership for three-year terms)
2. Members of the Board of Deacons (one-third of membership for three-year terms)
3. Members of the Leadership Nominations Committee (one-half of membership for two-year terms)

We also may assist the Session with volunteer recruiting when that group requests and LNC agrees. This
may include, but is not limited to, recruiting for new and re-organized committees.

SCHEDULE/PROCESS

The Committee typically begins its annual work each year in April with a goal of completing nominations by November.

We first determine needs for each area, meeting with board leaders. This includes qualifications, experience, and skills desired and the number of new leaders needed in each role.

The LNC then works together to identify appropriate members as candidates and has conversations with nominees. We also welcome people self-identifying potential interest and any members with interest may contact any of the LNC’s members (below).

Board nominees are finalized and submitted to the Session to hold a congregational election meeting.
Committee candidates are provided to committee chairs for their further approval.
