Confirmation

Every two years our 8th grade youth and any high school youth that have not yet participated in confirmation are invited to continue their faith journey.  We use the Changing the World Curriculum for the Missional Church written by Mark Hinds.  This curriculum focuses on a missional confirmation approach rather than a membership approach

 

Mark writes: Missional confirmation does not prepare young people for institutional membership. It is not about joining the church; it is about joining the missional project that Jesus initiated and entrusted to the church. Missional confirmation inspires teenagers to change the world, in big and small ways, in service to Jesus Christ. Missional confirmation can be a seedbed for developing a new generation of disciples who commit to following the way of Christ. Adolescence is the perfect time to challenge teenaged church members to embrace a compelling vision of compassion and generosity — a time to take healthy risks in reflective conversations with trusted adults

 

Youth gather together for a block of lessons and then spend the next 6-8 months working alongside their mentor to explore and dig deeper into their faith and how they will essentially change the world.  

 

Our next group will begin in September, 2027.
