Christmas Week
–Birthday Party for Jesus–
This week we remember the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of baby Jesus. In honor of Jesus’ birthday all PCB families are encouraged to have a birthday party for Jesus.
First bake and frost a birthday cake and put 3 candles on top for past, present and future:
- Past: Remember the stories of Jesus from days long ago.
- Present: Feel the ways Jesus lives in our hearts and through our actions today.
- Future: Commit to live as Jesus taught us to and make the world a better place.
Every birthday party needs a birthday card and present for the birthday child!
- Card: Make a birthday card for the baby Jesus. Draw a picture on the outside and write birthday wishes on the inside.
- Gift: Think of the lessons you’ve learned about Jesus from Sunday School. Jesus teaches us to treat others the way we want to be treated and to take care of the world and those in need. For Jesus’ birthday think of something you can do for someone else, for your community, or for the environment in honor of Jesus. Write down your good deed on a piece of paper and place it in a gift box.
- Tree: Put the gift and card under your Christmas tree for Jesus.
- Actions: Sometime around Christmas follow through with your birthday gift to Jesus and do what you wrote down.
- Future: Keep your birthday Christmas box with all your Christmas treasures and each year add a new gift for Jesus to the box and place it under the tree.
Gather some party hats, balloons, and games for the family as you get ready to celebrate Jesus’ birthday. And don’t forget to sing Happy Birthday!
Add your own ideas and family birthday traditions to make your birthday party for Jesus extra special!
