I have been called to serve as a Deacon for Parish 8 for another three-year term, and I accepted in spite of my limited time constraints as a single, working mother. 

I accepted because Jesus asks us to love and to serve. I saw no better way to love and to serve than to be a deacon. I accepted because I look forward to the excitement of returning to church this year and being able to serve more when that happens. I accepted because we have a new Associate Pastor and am excited to see our church grow so that I can serve even more people. 

I was honored to be asked back — I guess I didn’t muck it up too much last term — so I accepted with gratitude. I hope my parish members know that by reaching out to me with weekly prayer concerns, they are allowing me to serve them.  I have a need to fulfill what Jesus asks of us.  I am never too busy to serve.
