Deacon Article by Caryl Bondelli
As I’m writing this article, it’s the end of March and the temperature is fluctuating between the 30’s and the 50’s, but will not stay warm after only flirting with it. It’s still rather cold, and even though the sun is shining, the wind is always blowing. Spring is officially here, but it doesn’t feel like it!
When my daughter was little, she had a book that was filled with pictures of beautiful flowers and the story was that spring is the earth’s birthday. I love spring and can hardly wait to see the flowers coming up out of the ground, the buds on the trees, and the grass turning from brown to a luscious green.
Spring is a renewal of nature and we can take a hint from it to renew ourselves. We can shed some habits that keep us from being the best we can be. It seems like with the nicer weather and the extended daylight we do seem to smile more. That in itself is a good start to finding joy in life and showing it to those with whom we come in contact.
Happy Spring and peace to all,
Caryl Bondelli
