Deacon’s Article by Audrey Helminiak
I recall my grandfather was a deacon at his church, so when I was called again to be a deacon here, I immediately said yes. I said yes because I wish to serve more, to do more as a Christian to serve others, and to possibly be that beacon for my kids as my grandparents were for me because their constant faith made an impression on me even though I didn’t realize it until much later in life.
Now, if someone besides my kids sees me and thinks that they could do what I am doing, and if that someone steps up and likewise feels a desire to serve, then I would be a grateful disciple.
I have been a deacon for Parish 2 for a year now and have enjoyed visiting members of my parish and delivering flowers to those who need a bit of cheer after church. I am also a co-coordinator for Meals With Wheels, which again helps my desire to serve as I love delivering meals to other members of our community, outside of our church.
Whether you are a member of Parish 2 or not, please feel free to contact me or any of the deacons if you have a need for prayer as we are constantly praying for members of our church family. You must let us know if you are entering a hospital or have been admitted to a hospital as the hospitals are not allowed to contact the church that you are there. We can be your connection to receiving prayers and concern. Please reach out to us! It’s our job to serve, so please give us something to do!
