Organ
Our organ is a valued treasure that provides the foundation for the diversity of our music program.
A Brief History of our Organ
The M.P. Möller pipe organ was purchased in 1966, installed in April of 1968, and was the company’s Opus 10347. The console (keyboards, pedal board, and controls) were given by Mr. Henry Beard.
The first Service contract was signed with Fabry, Inc., February 1, 1969, for two visits a year costing $120.00.
In April of 1987, the controls for the swell shades were replaced. (These are the vertical blinds that open and close to control the volume.) At the same time Fabry, Inc replaced soundproofing material in the organ console.
The electronic 32’ Bombarde was added by an unknown source in 1989.
1990 was the year a contract was given to Fabry, Inc. to add the 8’ Krummhorn, the 2 2/3’ Nazard, the 1 3/5’ Tierce, and the 1 1/3’ Larigot. Fabry donated $500.00 per rank in memory of Henry Beard.
In 2000, Fabry installed 25 Mayland Systems along with new Swell and Great Expression Systems.
In 2003, the Session changed the organ service company to Dean Christian Associates. In 2004 with the help of donated funds, the Session commissioned a significant update and enhancement of the organ. The service company installed a new solid state relay and combination action and new PVC cabling to all windchests. Additionally, they installed the 8’ Viola céleste and revoiced all the principal stops in the organ.
The present organ consists of 2-61 note manual keyboards, a 32-note pedal keyboard, 23 ranks (sets) of pipes, 34 stops (tonal colors) and a total of 1159 pipes.
