Concert Series 2007-2008

For the 2007-2008 season, the Presbyterian Church of Barrington will offer a four program concert series. Each concert is Sunday afternoon at 4:00 and is free to the public. Donations at the door will be accepted to benefit various non-profit organizations. Please join us for refreshments in the Fellowship Hall following each concert. Free childcare is available.

Gaudete Sunday, October 28 2007 - Gaudete Brass Quintet
Our in-residence brass quintet, Gaudete Brass will present another fabulous concert of music spanning five centuries. On the program you will hear works by Wilbye, Bach, Ewazen, D’Rivera, Ewald, and old favorites by Stephen Foster, including Oh! Susanna, Beautiful Dreamer, and Camptown Races. Founded in 2004, the Gaudete Brass Quintet has quickly established itself as one of the premier brass chamber ensembles in the country today. The quintet is committed to sharing the great brass quintet literature with audiences in an exciting and relevant way. If you have not yet heard them in concert, now’s your chance…

Sunday, December 2 2007 -  Messiah “Sing-Along”
Join us for the 2nd annual Messiah Sing-Along performed by professional soloists and orchestra, with additional holiday music by our own PCB Children’s Choir. Come to sing, listen, or to do a little bit of both. Please bring a score if you have one, or you may purchase one at the door. Following the concert you are invited to stay for our annual Advent dinner (reservations recommended for the dinner).

Will White Sunday, February 10 2008 - Concert World Premiere:
Thy King Cometh by Will White
The Presbyterian Church of Barrington Sanctuary Choir will be joined by strings, brass, bells, woodwinds, and a guest choir to perform acclaimed composer Will White’s commissioned oratorio, Thy King Cometh. The completed work is modeled after Handel’s Messiah and is divided into two parts: Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear the world premiere of this exciting new work!

The Glen Ellyn Children's Chorus (GECC), now in its 43rd season, is one of the leading children and youth choral organizations in America. The organization’s rich heritage of exemplary programs has served as an artistic and educational model across North America for many years. Directed by renowned conductor Emily Ellsworth, the GECC will present a program of inspiring choral music for all ages.
