One group drove out to a site where they started working on a wheelchair accessible ramp for an elderly woman's home. Digging posts and cutting and measuring wood, along with removing some rusted metalwork, were the first tasks that needed to be done.

Another group helped prepare for painting a room/hallway in our host church.

Our VBS group, as well as running the Bible School, is undertaking this project. Although the progress might seem little to some, today helped us prepare for the rest of the week's work here in Welch, West Virginia.

At the Airport

On Sunday June 10th, we attended the First Presbyterian Church of Welch. When we first came in for Worship Sunday morning, we arrived thirty minutes early, and the only person there was the organist, Martha. We listened to her practice, and then she shared some interesting church stories from the past. Because she had started playing the organ for the church in the early 1950's, there were many stories to share. The congregation was very grateful to have us there and prayed for our safety and well-being during the week.

The rest of the day was spent organizing, setting up for our VBS (Vacation Bible School) program, shopping for our meals, relaxing, and getting acquainted with the town. We look forward to beginning our mission projects tomorrow.
