ChristCare Small Group Ministry
Caring Hearts-Faithful Servants
Our
vision statement calls upon members of this congregation to
“serve those in need, inspiring and equipping one another to respond
to God’s call; [to] support each individual’s journey of faith
through lifelong learning, Christian fellowship and prayer; and [to]
share this spiritual home with all, . . .” ChristCare Small Group
Ministry has been established in our church as a way of translating
that vision into reality in our congregation.
A ChristCare group transforms lives by providing a forum to build fellowship, to grow spiritually, and to share Christ’s love in a tangible way. A ChristCare group consists of 5-12 people who covenant together to meet regularly and participate in four distinct activities: fellowship and care; focused bible study; prayer and worship; and missional service. The groups are led by a trained leader and are organized around a common purpose, or a shared circumstance, or a simple desire to be a group.
Group Leaders receive 40 hours of comprehensive training before they begin leading their groups. As of January, 2006 three group leaders have been trained and have begun leading groups. They are: Gerry Nadig, Bob Florio and Lukass Franklin. Each heads a dynamic group and each group has a special emphasis.
|
|
Bob Florio’s group focuses on regular service to the hungry and the homeless.
|
|
Lukass Franklin’s group focuses on serving shut-ins, those temporarily home-bound, in hospitals, or extended care facilities.
|
|
Gerry Nadig’s group focuses on individuals undergoing life transitions, especially the transition of retirement. |
ChristCare groups can address a myriad of topics as defined by the needs of a congregation. At other churches, examples of ChristCare groups include: Parents of ‘Tweens; Blended Families; Adoptive Parents; Cancer Survivors; Young Families; Young Adults; Empty Nesters; Helping Hands; - the list goes on and on. These groups are not cliques. Instead, they are meant to be open to anyone who wants to join – including individuals from outside the congregation – and are expected to grow and give birth to new groups.
Do you have a special interest or see a common need? Talk to one of our ChristCare “Equippers” who are responsible for recruiting and training group leaders as well as monitoring and supporting the group leaders on an on-going basis. The Equippers at PCB are Dan Spike, and Karen Tobin.
ChristCare groups can transform your life. Are you seeking … a sense of Christian
community? … to connect at a deeper level? … to walk with others on
their spiritual journeys? … to live your faith in daily life? … to
discover and use your God-given talents to serve others? We
encourage you to consider the possibilities for this ministry in
your life. If you are interested in joining one of our existing
groups, or would like to form and lead a new group, please contact
the church office, one of the Equippers, or one of the
group
leaders.
