Dr. John Dominic Crossan, one of the foremost biblical scholars of our times, returns to the Chicago area to present a two day lecture series at the Presbyterian Church of Barrington on Friday April 20 and Saturday April 21, 2007.
The Adult Education Committee of the Presbyterian Church of Barrington extends this invitation for you to join us for this exciting and thought provoking Lecture Series.
Dr. Crossan has written twenty-three books on the historical Jesus, earliest Christianity, and the historical Paul. Five of them have been national religious bestsellers for a combined total of twenty-four months.
His most recent book, God & Empire: Jesus Against Rome Then and Now was published by Harper San Francisco in March, 2007.
Dr. Crossan’s fascinating three part lecture series will explore:
- Who the real Jesus of history was and what he really said.
- The places where Jesus taught and preached.
- The people Jesus lived among and healed.
- Life as Jesus might have known it 2,000 years ago.
- What Jesus may have experienced.
- The opportunity to reframe the Jesus of faith as you experience more closely the Jesus of history.
- Experiencing Jesus as you may never have thought possible.
The series is designed so that all lectures may be heard as stand-alone presentations, while the entire series presents a comprehensive overview of Dr. Crossan’s most recent work.
Cost is $25 per person for three lectures
Student Rate is $10
