Visitor Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

We have learned that visitors often find it difficult to understand the special uniqueness of any church by only attending worship services.  For this reason, we created this section to provide the information most often sought by families and individuals who are looking for the right church to join so their spiritual growth flows and strengthens.

We hope that this section has been useful to you.

Our web site is packed with more information that will be helpful to your understanding of who we are.  Read more about specific offerings and ministries, or even listen to a recorded worship service or just the sermon.  Feel free to contact our ministerial team or any member.  We would like to get to know you on your spiritual journey and have you enrich ours!

Which Worship Service should I visit?
A traditional worship service is usually held Sundays at 10am. During the school year, an additional, alternative (Vespers) service is held the second Saturday of the month at 6pm.

Christmas and Easter offer a variety of services and educational programs. Please check for holiday service hours on the home page or by calling the church office at 847-381-0975.

The services follow a Reformed order for Presbyterian worship. On the first Sunday of each month Holy Communion is celebrated.

Our children’s education programs operate during the 10am service. If you have children, they will be able to participate with dozens of young children in our Time with Young Disciples prior to their departure from the sanctuary at the 10am worship service for Sunday school classes.

What is special about your children’s education program?
An innovative children’s education teaching method, called the Workshop Rotation, originated in our church and is now used by churches all over the country.  The Workshop Rotation model is designed to help children learn through a variety of pathways.  The Bible-based curriculum uses drama, art, computers, cooking, audio-visual, storytelling, games, puppetry, and music to begin teaching the children about God’s love and plan for them. We even have a curio cabinet with different religious artifacts. Colorful artwork, painted onto the walls of the hallways also serves as an educational tool.

There is a colorful nursery and toddler room abundant with toys to entertain preschoolers. We have a youth lounge for our teenagers to include a TV with DVD player, a pool table, a pinball machine, soda dispenser and a foosball table.  All of our children and youth education classes are found on the lower level of the church.  Feel free to explore all levels of the church building facilities!

For All - Social Opportunities, For Adults, Children, and Families
The Fellowship Committee plans events to promote social interaction among adults, children, and families in our church.  Our events are open to church visitors, prospective members, friends, and neighbors as well, offering an open, inviting atmosphere.  Join us for a meeting or two to check us out, or just jump right in.  The time commitment is minimal.  The fun and fellowship is never ending!    Fellowship = Friendship!

We usually meet on the first Saturday of the month in the home of one of our members.  Each person/family brings food to share and a favorite beverage. You are not required to host any meetings.  Fabulous food and good conversation are guaranteed.  The meetings are fellowship events in themselves!  Babysitters are provided, so bring the kids!  Call our church office for details.

Stephen Ministry
Stepehn Ministry LogoStephen ministry is a lay ministry that helps those facing life's difficulties receive Christian love and support through one-to-one confidential caring relationships. Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation who have been specially trained to support people in need. Grounded in Jesus' command to love one another, the ministry is named after the biblical Stephen who was the first to offer Christ's love to those in need (Acts 6:1-7).

To date, we have trained and commissioned thirty Stephen Ministers and have one of the largest programs in the area.
