Nominating and Leadership Development Committee
The purpose of this committee is outlined in the Book of Order, which is the Constitution of the Presbyterian Church. Each year we actively engage the congregation at Barrington Presbyterian Church to assist in nominating seventeen officers as well as five new members-at-large to serve on the Nominating and Leadership Development Committee for one year. The officer terms are for three years each and include Elders, Deacons, and Trustees. Officers being ordained or installed to office must meet certain criteria in order to be selected to serve.
Beginning in 2002
our committee also launched a Leadership Orientation Program, which has become an annual event. During this ½-day
seminar, we train incoming officers in the areas of: church polity, government, the ordination process,
church finances, and the specific duties of the offices they will hold. It is a great time for fellowship and
meeting
officers and the ministerial staff.
The Nominating and Leadership
Development Committee is also now responsible for maintaining a
Skills and Talent
database serving the church membership. The committee prepares this survey annually for the congregation.
The data is reviewed by all church committee chairpersons to determine where each respondent can best dedicate
their time within the stewardship of the church. The Nominating and Leadership Development committee members are
responsible for entering the data into our church warehouse database to keep information
.
If you would be interested in serving on this committee or as a church officer, please complete and submit the Nominating Form link found below.
