Christmas (Advent) Schedule, 2009  
Advent-Christmas MangerDecember 12 - 6pm Vesper service. Rev. Spike will lead a Blue Christmas service, a time to remember persons and events that were part of our lives that now may be changed or gone.
December 13 - 10am
Worship and the lighting of the Third Advent candle.
December 20 - 10am
The children will lead us in Worship when we light the Fourth Advent Candle.  We will also be honoring Rev. Spike on his Honorable Retirement from full time ministry.
December 24 - 5:00 pm
A Candlelight family style Worship service led by Rev. Haeger.
7 & 9pm - Classic Candlelight Worship services with Dr. Baxter preaching
11pm Traditional Communion and Candlelight Worship service with Dr. Baxter preaching.
 

 
Adult ChoirThe Sanctuary Choir, Bell Choir and Children’s Choir will be recording a CD at the beginning of the month. Orders will be taken in November, 2009 with CD delivery in December. The CD will contain many favorites including Here I Am Lord, O Come, O Come Immanuel, Beautiful Savior, and many more. Look for the table in Fellowship Hall or contact Music Director, Kirsten Hedegaard. The CDs will make great gifts, so buy a bunch and get your Christmas shopping done early this year!

Carriers of the Light - Children signup by November 1st  
Carriers of the LightAll children are invited to participate in a production of the Carriers of the Light. Rehearsals will be held from 11:15 -12:15 on Sundays. In addition to learning the various speaking and singing roles, the kids will also help to create the costumes, sets and props.
The performance will be held on December 20 at 10:00 during morning worship.
Please contact Kirsten Hedegaard or Melissa Armstrong-Hansche if interested in being considered for a role.

Heritage Fall FestivalCome to the 1st annual Heritage Fall Festival. For young and old and young at heart, there will be things to see, make and do from days gone by. There will be crafts and games, music, fall flowers, plenty of food and homemade pies to eat or buy and much, much more. Bring your children, bring your grandchildren, feel free to bring a friend!

Kitchen Kabinet - Another Exciting Event!  
Read the story about the "hollow nickel" found by a newspaper boy.We have another exceptional presenter in store for us on May 13, 2009. Mr. Werner Juretzko was in the German army fighting the Russians at 14 years of age and after the war became a U. S. espionage agent operating behind the Iron Curtain.
Cash bar and socializing starts at 11:30am, followed by a buffet lunch.  Cost is $16 for lunch.  There is Valet parking.
This is another opportunity to invite your wives and friends to a most interesting and educational event. Some great info on Mr. Juretzko can be found at his web site.

The PCB Sanctuary Choir will be joined by professional orchestra and soloists to perform one of Bach’s most widely performed cantata’s Christ lag in Todesbanden. Additional music by Bach will be performed by the PCB Children’s Choir and Bell Choir. You won’t want to miss this inspiring Bach extravaganza!
 

 
Presbyterians Building Community (PBC)  
Presbyterians Building CommunityOur first workday of 2009 was a great success. We updated our toddler room to look like an outside play area. We finished hanging the holders for our banner closet and finished a few odd jobs. Our next day will be Saturday, April 18, 9-noon. We will be working inside and out. Projects will range from painting the courtyard area, working on the memorial garden, cleaning up the woods and painting the men's bathroom. We will end with fellowship time and a light lunch!

Christmas Eve family service God gave us Christmas. The Christ Candle is lit.
December 24, 7 & 9pm
Lessons and Carols candlelight service. An adaptation of the festival of nine lessons and carols, first used in the Truro Cathedral, England, and adapted in 1918 for the King’s College Chapel, Cambridge. Our vocal and bell choirs will lead the carols.
December 24, 11pm
Traditional candlelight service with carols, communion & sermon. Dr. Baxter preaches A Story that Really Matters. From the Christ candle, each person receives the Light of Christ. We proclaim Christ as the Light of the World as we sing Silent Night.

Here We Come A-Caroling!  
Christmas BenefitThe women of the Presbyterian Church of Barrington will host their annual Christmas Benefit on Thursday, Dec. 4,2008 at 10am to raise money for various mission projects and charities. The program will feature music by the Barrington High School Madrigals, directed by Nancie Tobison. A silent auction, drawing, bake sale and luncheon will follow the choral program. Christopher House BackpacksOver $3,000 was donated to the Christopher House School Supply Fundraiser.
As a result, 140 children received a backpack with school supplies, giving children a positive start to school.

Disciple Students - Fall 2008  
DiscipleThere will be an orientation session on Sun Aug 17 following worship at 10:20am in the Parlor. Fees will be collected, books will be distributed, and some prep work will be done prior to the 1st class. Everyone signed up for Invitation to Genesis on Tuesdays and Sundays should attend. Make checks payable to the church.
