HandelSing-Along Messiah            ^top
December 3, 2006

On December 3rd at 4:00, our church will present a sing-along production of Handel’s masterpiece, The Messiah, as a part of our Sundays-at-Four concert series.

A long-time tradition in many communities, the Messiah Sing-Along is a “first” at The Presbyterian Church of Barrington. We hope to continue the tradition for many years to come.

The concert will include professional instrumentalists and vocalists performing “Part I” of The Messiah as well as an opening presentation by our own Children’s Choir singing advent and Christmas music. Members of the audience are encouraged to sing along for all of the Messiah choruses, but there will be plenty of seating for those who would rather sit and listen. Children are also welcome to sit quietly in the choir loft and listen to part of the concert.

Please bring a score if you have one, or if not, you may purchase one at the door. This concert is a great opportunity for people in the community to visit The Presbyterian Church of Barrington, so be sure to invite your friends and neighbors to join us. Hope to see (and hear!) many of you on the 3rd!

During the concert, child care will be available in the nursery/toddler room for babies and toddlers up to age 3. For older children, there will be advent art activities, videos, computer programs and games in the classrooms downstairs. Following the concert, be sure to come to Fellowship Hall for the annual Advent Dinner. All are welcome. For more information about the dinner, see the November Carillon, Page 6.

Sunday, October 29, 2006

On October 29 at 4:00 p.m., in our Sanctuary, this talented brass quintet, whose music so often enhances our worship service, will give a concert of both classical music and American popular song. Included will be music by George Gershwin, Claudio Monteverdi and Michael Tilson Thomas. You will not want to miss this enjoyable afternoon of music. If your neighbor kid is driving you crazy, practicing his/her trumpet, invite him/her to come with you to the concert to see and hear “how it should be done”. You both may benefit. So-o-o…mark your calendar now for October 29, 4:00 p.m.

Crop Walk24th Annual                                ^top
Barrington Area Crop Walk

Sunday, October 15, 2006

Why do we walk?! We walk to raise money and awareness of the devastation of hunger in our community and around the world. We bring our faith in Jesus to the sidewalks of Barrington!

Registration is at 12:30 p.m., Step-off 1 p.m. Begins & Ends at Barrington Middle School Station Campus

When you watch the news of people struck with disaster and wish you could help, CROP WALKers and their sponsors can feel the satisfaction of being there. They have helped. Last year we raised over $63,000. Of that, over $15,000 was given to six local food agencies: Northern Illinois Food Bank, St. Anne’s Project Hope, Wauconda-Island Lake Food Pantry, Barrington Meals With Wheels, PIN project of the Barrington Ministerial Association and FISH Food Pantry-Carpentersville.

Church World Service CROP has been there in your name and with your monies during times of disaster in the U.S. and around the world. CROP also works quietly helping people help themselves to eliminate hunger through education and improved skills in food production.

So, how can you help?
1. Pick up an envelope, in Fellowship Hall on Sunday morning, get sponsors and walk either the 10 kilometers or the Golden Mile.
2. Sponsor a Walker. In addition to all of the other walkers, Pastor Dan Spike will appreciate having you sponsor him. There are pledge sheets for him on the Mission Bulletin Board or on Sunday during coffee time in Fellowship Hall.
3. Make chili for ten or two dozen cookies for after-WALK feasting and fellowship. Sign up in Fellowship Hall.

Questions? Call Barbara Schwartz or stop by the table in Fellowship Hall between services.
